North Shore Lover?

northshore_lead.jpgA new association has recently formed for those of us who love the North Shore. Appropriately named the “North Shore St. Croix Association”, their mission is to preserve and enhance the beauty of the North Shore. St. Croix has many beautiful areas but the North side is certainly stunning, and has mostly gone undiscovered by the general public who visit the Virgin Islands. This new association plans to capture some of that beauty on their website and highlight the beaches, businesses and attractions that dot the countryside.

There is a North Shore St. Croix Destinations section on their website which describes 30 or 40 places tourists might find interesting to visit. These destinations are arranged in driving order to make it easy to follow. There is a map of the North Shore for visual help in locating each destination, an events page, and a news section which discusses membership news.

If you love the North Shore you may want to become a member. It’s free.

If you have a business or organization located on the North Shore you can also join for free. Plus you can have your business added to the Destinations section, at no charge!

Caribbean Printing

dsc_2195.jpgToday I stopped in at Caribbean Printing & Marketing in Gallows Bay. They design, print, copy… plus a whole lot more. Jarred, their lead designer, showed me around the shop and we discussed some of their capabilities, new equipment and plans for the future. It was fun to see such a thriving business and excited team.

In-house they have the usual printing, folding and binding equipment plus some nice new digital printers. There is an impressive new wide format printer that can produce beautiful large-format color reproductions (think of all the island artists who’ll want to make GiclĂ©e prints of their work!). I also learned that Caribbean Printing & Marketing has been in business on St. Croix for over 30 years… they’ve got some real experience when it comes to printing.

Here are some of their capabilities:

  • full color printing – flat or raised
  • black and white or color copying
  • document and report binding
  • business cards and stationery
  • laminating (small and large format)
  • menus and flyers
  • rack cards and posters
  • multi-part invoices and forms
  • graphic design and web site development
  • newsletters and reports
  • invitations and announcements
  • brochures and presentations
  • labels, stickers and raffle tickets
  • magnetic signs
  • programs and booklets
  • advertising specialties (mugs, keychains, etc.)
  • fax send and receive services
  • retail paper products
  • mailing services (inserting, addressing, sending)

Future plans… Jarred and Mike explained plans for their new design center which is currently under construction. They will offer graphic design and website development in the adjacent space next to the printing business. Customers will be able to see samples, drop by for meetings, and interact with the designers. Renovations are underway and the finished space will have a creative factory-style look. The proposed new name will be The Design Factory (corrected name).

Stop by Caribbean Printing & Marketing on St. Croix USVI (behind Gallows Bay Hardware), or call 340-778-8100. Their website is at www.cpmvi.com.

Kitchens, Doors, Tile…

Today we stopped in at Armrey Industries, part of a new group of businesses located just outside of Christiansted, USVI. Armrey and their partners at Richmond Design Center have a unique business model that umbrellas three companies under one roof… kitchens & bath products, windows and doors, and tile products. Plus each company helps with design and does professional installation. What a great idea!

The three showrooms offer great ideas and knowledgeable employees. Everyone was friendly as we browsed around and learned about their different products. There are many styles of granite, Corian®, and even bamboo counter tops available. We saw dozens of floor and bath tiles plus beautiful mosaic designs in the tile showroom. And in the door and window showroom I was impressed by the beautiful wood and glass folding doors that would be perfect for opening up any tropical home to the outdoors. Later, we got a quick tour of one of their manufacturing facilities and watched craftsman fabricate custom granite counter tops.

armlogowebmod.jpgIf you are looking to build or remodel we recommend stopping by. For contact information or to visit their websites click here for Armrey Industries for St. Croix kitchens and baths or visit Wooden Bridge Trading Company and Mark Hansen Designs for windows and doors.
